A feather kahili is a traditional Hawaiian ceremonial standard made of feathers, symbolizing royalty and status, used in religious and ceremonial contexts to signify the authority of chiefs and royalty (aliʻi). Learn and practice the traditional craft of hulu (featherwork) through this all-day workshop! For ages 12 years & up.

Our instructor, Kumu Hulu Carol Makani Wong studied under esteemed teachers Kumu MaryLouise Kaleonahenahe Kekuewa, Kumu Paulette Nohealani Kahalepuna, Kumu Doreen Henderson, and Kumu Lokelani Reichert. Kumu Carol continues to teach future generations of haumana in lei hulu, fostering a love for this specialized art form.
